How to Install Wood Trim Around a Bathtub

A contractor is not necessary if you’re remodeling a bathroom. All you need is a few basic tools and some patience. Installing wood trim around tubs is not difficult. The hardest part is making sure the corners are right and attaching the trim on the tub’s outside. The project is easy enough for anyone who can do it themselves.

Step 1

Get all measurements from your bathtub. Note these measurements along with a description of each to help you remember which measurement belongs where.

Step 2

Safety glasses are required. Place the mold in a mitersaw, marking it and adjusting to a 45 degree angle. Make sure you cut your molding to the right dimensions around the tub.

Step 3

To ensure that every 45-degree angle aligns correctly and forms a 90° angle, place each piece of wood molding.

Step 4

For 24 hours, let the mold acclimate.

Step 5

Use a bead adhesive to fix the wood molding around your tub. Spread a small amount of construction adhesive on the tub and wall. Finally, attach the wood molding to the tub. It should dry for at least 24 hours before you can use it.
