The choice is yours. Whatever you choose, your personality will shine through.

It is relatively simple to add a freestanding bathtub to an existing bathroom or a new one that is being built. In addition to hiring a plumber for the entire project, if you have some basic home improvement skills, you might want to install the freestanding bathtub yourself. Consider that a plumber may be required to relocate the drain to its proper location. Please note that the drain must always be installed according to your local plumbing codes. A licensed plumber can help.

Step 1 –  Gather your materials and supplies.

In order to install a freestanding bathtub, make sure you have everything you will need.

Step 2 –  Make sure the floor is level.

Use your level to check the floor. Is it 100 percent level? The floor may need to be leveled so that the tub does not tilt to one side.

Step 3 – Determine placement.

Perhaps you already know how you will position the freestanding bathtub. Now is the time to finalize this decision. Luxurious freestanding bathtubs can be placed almost anywhere in the room, whether it is in a corner, against the wall, in the middle, or next to a garden window. If you decide to do so, you will need to have an existing plumbing system. If there is no plumbing in place, you may need to work with a plumber.

Step 4 – Prep the floor.

You may skip this step if the bathtub will be placed on an existing drain. In the case of a wood subfloor, trace the outline of the tub to ensure you know what you are dealing with. The hole must be measured and cut by you or your plumber. It is necessary to size this hole in order to accommodate the drop in drain and plumbing trap. Thereafter, the open subfloor section must be repaired. To install the EZdrop-in-drain, use the template included with the subfloor to cut out the hole. You’ll need to attach this to the floor. A protective layer is included, which covers the hole and prevents debris from entering. Please note the location of the drain hole when completing the flooring. The next step is to make a circular hole large enough to expose the drain cover. Cut this covering way.

A similar process is followed for concrete floors, apart from the fact that you have to make a channel in the concrete to accommodate the plumbing trap and the EZDrop in Drain. The channels will be installed in the channel, then filled with concrete, the floor will be finished, a circular hole will be cut, and the protective covering will be cut.

Step 5 – Clean the floor.

In order to prevent dirt and debris from remaining under the tub, it is imperative to thoroughly clean the area beneath it. Due to the size of the bathtub, you will also require a clean work area. Thus, we recommend cleaning the entire bathroom floor.

Step 6 – Place a protective blanket near where the bathtub will be placed.

The tub will soon be placed on its side, which will protect its sides from scratches.

Step 7 – Place the freestanding bathtub.

A pop-up drain kit is included with the tub. Make sure the drain nut is not loose. Tighten if necessary. Check that the drain and waste lines are aligned with the drain hole in the floor under the bathtub. This can be accomplished by measuring the location of the drain underneath the bathtub. Place the bathtub on its side on the blanket. If necessary, use cardboard to provide additional support.

Step 8 – Clean the drain hole.

As far as the floor is concerned, it is already clean and dry, but what about the drain hole? It is necessary to clean out any dirt and debris and allow the area to dry completely. When the drain body is dry and clean, squeeze a small amount of clear silicone around it, passing it through the drain hole.

Step 9 – Prepare the drain tail piece.

There is a pop-up drain pre-installed in your Badeloft freestanding bathtub. The tail piece of the drain must be attached to the bottom of the tub. The plastic bushing must first be placed on top of the tail piece, and the nut must then be slid up the tube. The tubing must then be screwed into the drain. Ensure the rubber seal of the EZDrop in Drain is lubricated with lubricant.

Step 10 – Prepare the tub’s base.

A bead of caulk should be applied all the way around the tub’s base. around the edge of the base.

Step 11 – Place the freestanding bathtub.

Carefully position the tub in its desired location and caulk the tub’s bottom edge where it touches the ground. Use a wet cloth to clean off excess caulk.

Next Steps

As soon as your freestanding tub has been installed, clean up the work area, put your tools away, and admire your work. Despite the temptation to fill it up and jump in, you will have to wait at least 24 hours for the cure. There is no better time than now to take some photographs and accessorize your bathroom. Get ready for a relaxing soak after 24 hours has passed.
